Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services
The Coordinated Advice and Referral Program for Legal Services (CARPLS) strives to help lower income individuals address their legal needs in a timely and cost effective manner. Their legal assistance hotline provides callers with immediate access to an attorney. With this method, CARPLS disposes of its cases at a much lower cost per case than traditional legal aid programs. CARPLS was started following an Illinois Legal Needs Study that showed 80% of the legal needs of the poor in Illinois went unmet.
