With OR utilization trending above 85%, the leadership of University of Virginia Medical Center (UVMC) (a 570-bed Level I Trauma Center with 27,000 inpatient stays each year) faced growing capacity constraints. They partnered with Huron to ensure optimum utilization during an expansion of facilities, as well as establish consistent processes and systems across the OR and inpatient care settings.

Huron Healthcare’s Surgical Flow solution improved access to the OR for both patients and surgeons, streamlining key processes and communication around patient preparation, and providing weekly operational performance reporting for all key departments.

“Huron’s data analysis and problem solving are exceptional. They bring a lot of experience, but they’re also very collaborative. They truly became part of our team,” said A. Bobby Chhabra, MD, Associate CMO, Surgical Services, University of Virginia Health System.

“Huron’s dashboards are phenomenal. But it’s not just the technology; they taught us how to use the data to plan for the future,” said Robert Cofield, Assistant Vice President, Hospital and Clinics Operations. “Now we’re working the OR schedule five days out, instead of two. It’s a fantastic outcome.”
