About Shawn

Shawn has advised corporate clients in the evaluation of strategic alternatives culminating in the successful execution of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), asset acquisitions and divestitures (A&D), joint ventures, and all forms of capital raises, with a demonstrated history of helping review and implement change strategies to enhance stakeholder value. He identifies potential enhancements to clients’ operational performance and financial strategy, develops detailed analysis, and presents alternatives and recommendations to C-suite, board and private equity decision makers. Representative clients run the gamut from smaller private companies to large public organizations.

Shawn has executed transactions for businesses spanning every energy vertical, including upstream, midstream, energy service companies, power and utilities, and alternative energy. He has lead experience in arranging secured and unsecured debt as well as equity and equity-linked securities and loan products in private and public market settings, ranging from small club transactions to widely distributed offerings.

During his career, Shawn has:

  • Served as a lead underwriter or bookrunner on over $6 billion in debt and equity offerings and advised on over $3 billion in transaction value in financial adviser roles in the context of M&A and A&D transactions.
  • Raised growth capital for companies with attractive investment opportunities, which are unable or chose not to access public debt or equity markets.
  • Advised an oil and gas business on a series of capital raises, acquisitions and divestitures, which resulted in a repositioning of the company into a pure-play Permian Basin-focused company ultimately acquired for $1.6 billion.

Before Huron, Shawn held leadership roles, including managing director, at BMO Capital Markets. He also served in multiple roles, including vice president, at Deutsche Bank Securities. At both BMO and Deutsche Bank, Shawn focused on energy investment banking in Houston, Texas. Shawn’s experience also includes positions as a lead financial power trader and senior risk analyst at Duke Energy in the company’s unregulated asset optimization group.

Shawn earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University. He holds Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and 63 licenses.
