James has 20 years of experience in financial and economic analysis, corporate finance, valuation and operations. He has specific experience with medical equipment, manufacturing, healthcare, e-commerce, utilities, consumer goods, software, insurance and education. James also serves on the Appraisal issues Task Force advising both the FASB and the SEC on valuation related issues.

Professional Experience

James valued the intangible assets of clients for purposes of purchase price allocation. Intangible assets included in process research and development, workforce in place, developed technology, electronic content, customer lists, core technology, customer relationships, non-competition agreements and patents.

James developed numerous financial/economic models. The model uses included: understanding the economic drivers, assisting with determining capital requirements, evaluating a joint venture, and modeling the affect of a product on customer's operations. James also directed the development of a strategic plan for a European consumer goods company. The strategy project was focused on developing a market focused enterprise.

Some of James's experience includes an economic evaluation of a merger of two publicly traded consumer goods companies. Critical issues included evaluation of potential savings, adequacy of financing, scenario planning, and an assessment of the acquiring firm.

James assisted in the financial restructuring of a distressed high tech manufacturer. The project included negotiations with banks, projections of cash flows, evaluation of sales operations, and potential exit strategies for the owners.

Other
James led the strategy realignment at a global consumer goods firm. The project was an expansion of the client's four-year commitment to shareholder value added. They underwent a transformation from a sporting goods company to an electronic instrumentation company. James also performed market research for clients looking to expand into new product /market categories. These projects have been performed in both North America and Europe and have included the economic impact of product launches and expanded distribution.
