TARP Response Team

Huron’s TARP Response Team is advising clients on the valuation, risk management, servicing and accounting implications of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and the Capital Purchase Program.  Huron’s TARP Response Team is prepared to provide unprecedented value and insight through the following services:

Global Strategic Review of Distressed Assets
Huron will provide economic, valuation and accounting analysis to support a global strategic legal review of distressed structured products.  The aim of this review is twofold: provide an independent view of the fundamental value and the fair value of a distressed asset portfolio under divergent economic scenarios; and, demonstrate that management has performed reasonable due diligence surrounding its decision to participate in a government-sponsored relief program.

Complex Accounting and Valuation
Huron’s accounting experts will guide TARP and Capital Purchase Program participants through daunting accounting issues and highlight areas of concern with the Treasury’s Term Sheet.  Huron’s accounting and valuation experts will also advise on portfolio valuations and external financial reporting issues.

M&A Considerations for Capital Purchase Program Participants

Huron's M&A, valuation, transaction advisory and accounting experts will work with management to develop the strategies and capabilities to assess financial projections and potential risks, drive premium recapture and sustain profitable growth.  Huron brings the discipline of the capital markets inside an organization, building the capabilities to effectively manage and maximize shareholder value growth.

Reverse Auction Preparation
Huron’s economists will draw upon their experience in energy and wireless spectrum auctions to help clients develop bidding strategies and to provide real-time analysis of auction intelligence.  It may be preferable for our services to be retained through outside counsel to maintain privileged communications.

Loss Mitigation Compliance
Huron will install on-site experts within servicing centers to highlight potential liabilities related to fiduciary and compliance responsibilities.  Huron's experts will also evaluate companies' efforts to comply with loss mitigation enhancement efforts in its service centers.

Huron Consulting Group's TARP Response Team includes battle-tested PhD economists, valuation, financial modeling and accounting experts with industry, regulatory and consulting backgrounds.  The TARP Response Team is accustomed to working toward incredibly time-sensitive and demanding deadlines similar to those facing today's financial institutions.
