With more than 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Darren has a track record of successfully guiding organizations through operational and cultural transformation. He works closely with senior leaders and front-line staff to refocus teams on their mission and improve health outcomes.
Throughout his career, Darren has:
- Raised employee engagement and patient satisfaction environment domain results across numerous academic health centers, national systems and community hospitals.
- Improved employee engagement in a large academic health center by 9% in one year, in a division of five community hospitals by 11% in one year, and in a for-profit system by 5%.
- Increased patient satisfaction as measured by HCAHPS at a for-profit hospital from the 50th percentile to the top decile in less than a year, and in a system of large community hospitals by 10% per year for three consecutive years.
- Improved physician engagement through revised rounding models from the bottom quartile to the top quartile in two years.
Prior to joining Huron, Darren was a project manager for Crothall Healthcare. In this role, he led new account startups as well as recovery of troubled accounts. He has also served in support services leadership roles at many large hospitals throughout Virginia, North Carolina and Florida.
Darren is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, as well as a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
