He has worked with the top 100 research universities, academic health centers, hospitals and nonprofit institutions.
About Jim
Jim’s career spans more than three decades, with deep expertise in federal grant and contract compliance, cost recovery and regulatory issues. Jim has worked with the top 100 research universities, academic health centers, hospitals and nonprofit institutions. He has extensive knowledge on a wide variety of government regulations and cost principles including OMB Uniform Guidance and DHHS Publication OASC-3.
Jim has provided strategic support to leaders at over 75 institutions to negotiate and finalize indirect cost rates and has directed over 100 facilities and administration (F&A) calculation rate engagements. He has also led numerous compliance-related initiatives related to the management of federal grants and contracts, including pooled fringe benefit rates implementation and service center operations, effort reporting system reviews and federal compliance cost reviews.
Prior to joining Huron, Jim was director of the higher education facilities and administrative cost practice at MAXIMUS. He has also worked as a manager for KPMG, as well as controller for the Colorado School of Mines.
Jim is a member of the National Association of College and University Accountants and the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA). He is a frequent speaker at industry events sponsored by NCURA, as well as the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and the Society of Research Administrators (SRA).
