Russell is a senior leader who has spent more than three decades working in the healthcare industry, including 24 years of supply chain management and consulting experience. He advises hospitals and health systems on strategies to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
With more than 30 years of healthcare experience concentrated in supply chain management and consulting, Russell is an expert in helping provider organizations enhance financial and operational performance. He has an in-depth understanding of all aspects of supply chain operations and management including purchasing, contracting, distribution, sourcing, central sterilization, transportation and value analysis.
Russell specializes in guiding healthcare organizations through complex supply chain initiatives, including group purchasing organization (GPO) assessments, strategy development and shared services redesign. Throughout his career, Russell has worked with health systems and hospitals nationwide to achieve more than $60 million in annual cost reductions by enhancing contract management, pharmacy, laboratory and other non-labor initiatives.
Prior to his time at Huron, Russell was a regional director at Quorum Health Resources, providing supply chain and operational leadership for hospitals. He began his career in supply chain and materials management roles across tertiary, community and for-profit hospital environments.
Russell is a member of the Association of Healthcare Resource and Materials Management (AHRMM) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
