UNC Health Care: Standardizing and Optimizing Revenue Cycle Performance Before and After a System-wide HIS Conversion
Huron and UNC Health Care worked together to develop a solution for sustainable revenue cycle improvement.
"Our partnership with Huron through our Carolina Value initiative produced sustainable revenue cycle improvement. A key factor in exceeding project goals was the strong sense of teamwork and the combined approach to change management."
UNC Health Care sought to standardize and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its revenue cycle following a recent HIS conversion at three facilities and in preparation for the ongoing conversion across the system. Working collaboratively, Huron implemented its Revenue Cycle solution to optimize performance.
Huron also created a reporting suite that consistently measures key operational indicators in a diverse system that includes an academic medical center, community hospitals, a critical access hospital, and two physician organizations. The engagement reduced high priority collections work in process by $72 million, provided a 20 percent increase in patients financially secure prior to visit, and resulted in a $91.7 million recurring financial benefit.
“Our partnership with Huron through our Carolina Value initiative produced sustainable revenue cycle improvement,” said Stephen Rinaldi, system vice president, UNC Health Care. “A key factor in exceeding project goals was the strong sense of teamwork and the combined approach to change management.”Download Now
