CIOs Seek More Strategic Role on Campuses; Talk Importance of Data-based Decision Making

Given the central stake of Information Technology in campus affairs, the Chief Information Officer should be a very powerful position on campus. However, on many campuses, the person in that role is seen as having primarily technical expertise. How can that perception be changed? How can IT departments keep up with the increasing demand for data-based analytics and solutions?
Those were the main topics at a roundtable discussion featuring 10 CIOs of large public universities, hosted by Huron Education during the EDUCAUSE annual meeting. This White Paper features highlights of the discussion and some key takeaways for others facing similar issues.
