About the Common Rule:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recently released a revised Common Rule — the Final Rule — which is the first major change to that set of regulations in over 25 years. Human research protection programs must comply with the Final Rule provisions starting on January 19, 2018.
However, on January 17, 2018, OHRP issued an Interim Final Rule changing the effective and compliance date to July 19, 2018, with a possible extension to January 2019.
