About Thiemo
Thiemo works with leadership teams to define growth strategies, reshape portfolios, reinvent business models, and drive long-term transformation. He combines rigorous analysis with a practical, action-oriented approach, helping leaders align on the strategic moves that change the organization’s trajectory. His work helps companies assess and reposition portfolios, prioritize investments across core, adjacent, and emerging markets, and align leadership teams around shareholder value creation, capital allocation, and execution priorities.
He brings experience across life sciences, medtech, pharmaceuticals, and technology-driven industrial sectors. His work includes portfolio assessments, cost optimization, new market entry, and the development and scaling of new businesses. Thiemo has developed growth strategies and business models that have helped clients create hundreds of millions of dollars in new growth and establish businesses in new markets and industries.
Across Thiemo’s career, he has:
- Led a portfolio strategy and capital-allocation initiative for a global medtech company, aligning management and the board on long-term growth priorities and reallocating capital toward higher-growth therapeutic areas. The company subsequently doubled its market capitalization while sustaining about 10% revenue growth.
- Directed a growth strategy initiative for a global biotech company, developing and prioritizing new growth areas and rebalancing research and development (R&D) and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) investments between the core and emerging opportunities. The work helped create a new growth platform that grew into a billion-dollar business and established a repeatable model for funding and scaling growth beyond the core.
- Developed the long-term strategy for a surgical robotics business at a global medtech leader, defining its future ambition, priority indications, geographic footprint, and clinical strategy. The work repositioned the business for long-term growth while freeing resources for strategic investment.
Thiemo joined Innosight as an Associate in 2015. Prior to that, he served as an Innovation Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he assessed healthcare startups, developed new business concepts, and led initiatives to validate emerging technologies in clinical trials. Earlier in his career, he worked in management consulting at PwC and at a technology startup in Canada.
Thiemo earned a doctorate in strategic management from the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business).
