About Alene
Alene has worked in the healthcare information technology (IT) space for a more than a decade, specializing in Epic physician revenue cycle improvement, charge capture and reporting. She provides subject matter expertise related to physician revenue cycle, patient access, charging, reporting design and approach, and IT infrastructure. She also leads the creation of new approaches and methodologies within the healthcare technology space, including Huron’s charging continuum improvement offering, which harnesses the combined knowledge of Huron’s coding and clinical documentation, revenue cycle leadership, and electronic health record experts to automate and enhance charge capture.
Throughout her career, Alene has:
- Led teams of technology resources on large integrated engagements for several Midwestern and West Coast health systems to implement improvements for insurance verification and financial clearance, point-of-service collections, denials management, scheduling protocols and template optimization.
- Assessed and conducted independent revenue cycle optimization efforts at a community health organization in the Northwest, partnering directly with revenue cycle leadership to identify areas of opportunity, collaborate with operational leaders and complete the system changes necessary to support these efforts.
- Provided technical advisory services to a large academic organization on the West Coast, where she collaborated with report writing resources to engineer custom reports offering transparency into pre-accounts receivable, denials, follow-up and other key metrics in Epic.
- Offered implementation perspective and charge capture subject matter expertise to a large academic organization in the Midwest as its employed physician group made the move from IDX to Epic.
Alene started her career as a member of Epic’s Resolute Professional Billing implementation team. After departing Epic, she led client and consulting teams, headed charging efforts, and conducted independent physician revenue cycle improvement projects before joining Huron.
Alene holds a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and political science from Illinois Wesleyan University. Additionally, she holds Epic certifications in Resolute Professional Billing, MyChart and Clarity Data Model — Professional Billing.
