Mark Finlan is a Managing Director and the leader of Huron’s Education & Research industry, which supports over 600 institutions annually. Nationally recognized for his leadership and impact, Mark has personally worked with more than 60 institutions to lead complex, enterprise programs that align strategy, improve performance, and optimize operations. His work has helped some of the nation’s most prominent colleges, universities, systems, and research organizations navigate growth, transformation, and financial pressure while strengthening mission delivery.
Mark has led major pursuits and delivery efforts with prominent colleges, universities, academic medical centers, and research organizations, driving collaboration across a broad portfolio of services to deliver integrated solutions for clients. He is known for pairing strategic perspective with operational rigor, helping education and research organizations improve long-term sustainability while advancing institutional priorities.
Prior to joining Huron, Mark led the Higher Education and the Organization and Human Capital practices at Censeo Consulting Group. Earlier in his career, he was a Principal at Bain & Company, where he helped found the firm’s higher education practice.
Mark was awarded Top 25 Education Consultant by The Consultant Report in 2024. Consulting Magazine recognized him as a Top 25 Consultant in 2015 and for Excellence in Social and Community Investment in 2014.
Mark earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in physics and mathematics from the College of William & Mary.
