Pete has more than 13 years of experience leading performance improvement implementation projects for academic medical centers, regional health systems, pediatric hospitals, and community hospitals. He specializes in care transformation, workforce, change management, and operational optimization initiatives. He also serves as a leader of Huron’s inpatient care progression, capacity management, and command center capabilities.

About Pete

Pete manages and leads capacity management, command center, and workforce optimization projects at hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers. He has specific expertise improving interdepartmental communication; optimizing health information systems; and building, training, and staffing in-house physician adviser programs.

During his career, Pete has:

  • Led critical care utilization and patient flow initiatives at a 1,000-bed academic medical center, resulting in $30 million in recurring annualized financial benefit.
  • Led care delivery transformation efforts across a three-campus academic health system, resulting in $40 million in recurring annualized financial benefit.
  • Led efforts to effectively decrease clinical denials across a large academic medical center.
  • Managed patient throughput improvement work at a 700-bed academic medical center to drive a length-of-stay (LOS) reduction, resulting in a combined recurring annual benefit of $17 million.
  • Managed patient throughput improvement work at an 800-bed regional medical center and helped to decrease LOS by up to 64% on targeted implementation units.
  • Managed patient throughput improvement work at a 500-bed academic medical center, resulting in $5 million in annual financial benefit.
  • Managed a pediatric case management engagement resulting in a newly aligned in-house physician adviser model and rigorous concurrent denials processes.
  • Managed the implementation of a multihospital system for workforce optimization and clinical operations initiatives, achieving $19 million in annual benefit.

Pete holds a Master of Science in education and social change from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science in healthcare management and policy from Georgetown University.
