Phil brings more than 20 years of experience working with large employers, complex systems, academic medical centers and educational institutions on significant HR business process improvement, HR transformation, employee benefit, compensation, organizational development, change management, and technology initiatives. He has worked with clients in all phases of system integrations, mergers and acquisitions, strategy, and design through full implementation. He is certified in the Accelerating Implementation Methodology (AIM) of change management.
Prior to joining Wellspring, which was acquired by Huron Consulting Group in 2007, Phil was a partner in a large “American Lawyer 200” law firm where he led the compensation and benefits practice. Phil regularly advised for-profit and not-for-profit clients in the design, implementation, compliance, and termination of executive compensation, director's compensation, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, welfare plans, and fringe benefit arrangements. Phil counseled his national and international clients regarding all aspects of compliance with ERISA, security laws, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, and other laws and regulations impacting executive compensation, employees, and employee benefits. He advised sellers, purchasers, lenders, and other investors in a great variety of industries in matters relating to executive compensation, employees, labor, and employee benefits in mergers, acquisitions, re-organizations, and divestitures. He has also played a regular part in union negotiations. He served as an adjunct professor of Employee Benefits Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law during the 2007 and 2008 Winter Semesters.
