About Tim

Tim works with academic and operational institutional leaders to develop and implement strategic change. His combination of leadership experience as both a private-sector consultant and a university leader allows him to pair rigor with an appreciation of the culture of higher education that enables his clients to achieve sustainable results. He has built and led teams engaged in developing high-profile strategies across institutions and their schools, in addition to leading academic business operations, including school finance and administration functions, to drive improvements in business practices and technology.

Throughout his career, Tim has:

  • Developed academic priorities for investment for a private Ivy League research university by providing comprehensive data on academic programs with special emphasis on student interest and success as well as research standing versus peers and by developing long-horizon financial resource needs and implementation plans. This resulted in coordinated efforts across schools in key academic areas linked with a building campaign to transform major elements of campus.
  • Facilitated the creation and elevation of independent schools of engineering, public health, and international affairs at a private research university, coordinating efforts of faculty committees and school leadership, supplemented by internal and market analysis and detailed resource and implementation planning.
  • Led the development of a new funds flow methodology between a school of medicine and a 1,500-bed hospital, resulting in an arrangement that radically reduced administrative complexity, aligned with joint strategic goals, and dovetailed with faculty compensation plans.

Prior to joining Huron, Tim spent over seven years facilitating strategy-setting through to implementation work as the associate vice president for strategy and analytics at Yale University. Before Yale, Tim served for a decade as a consultant to private-sector organizations on strategy and organizational change, most recently as a principal at Bain & Company in San Francisco.
