Allen has more than 25 years of hands-on experience in healthcare executive leadership, operations, reimbursement and technology in hospital, retail and specialty pharmacy settings. He has a track record of conceptualizing, developing and implementing strategic plans that help healthcare organizations enhance care and improve reimbursement and operational efficiency while reducing costs.

About Allen

Allen has spent a career dedicated to helping healthcare organizations enhance pharmacy performance in diverse settings, including community hospitals, health systems and large academic health centers. As a consultant, he’s collaborated with clients on medical and pharmacy benefit design, employee drug expenditure strategies and the coordination of pharmacy benefit manager relationships.

Throughout his career, Allen has served as:

  • Chief executive officer of two pharmacy consulting firms, where he was responsible for strengthening operations and supply chain efficiencies, redesigning workflows, implementing automation technologies, and performing regulatory and accreditation reviews for healthcare providers.
  • Senior vice president for a leading drug wholesaler, where he was responsible for five subsidiary companies providing pharmacy software, automation, robotics and consulting to the hospital, retail, alternate care and mail order pharmacy markets. He was accountable for leading strategic growth, product development, tactical planning and all aspects of business operations.
  • Vice president of operations for a hospital pharmacy management organization servicing over 85 hospital pharmacies, seven retail pharmacies and over 18,000 long-term-care beds.

As an entrepreneur, Allen has been a founding partner in four successful pharmacy consulting, technology and staffing organizations. Allen has presented nationally on pharmacy, the 340B Program, pharmacy benefit managers, drug price forecasting, controlling drug expenditures, supply chain management and a host of other topics at industry meetings, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Roundtable (for CFOs) and the Children’s Hospital Association.
