Elaina has more than 15 years of revenue cycle experience, including leadership roles in revenue cycle operations, consulting and Epic system design. She has worked with regional health systems, academic health centers, community hospitals and physician practices.

Elaina has nearly two decades of experience working with Epic software and optimizing its utilization for revenue cycle performance for numerous clients. She has specific expertise in leading revenue cycle operations, with direct accountability over areas such as preregistration, centralized scheduling, insurance verification, registration, financial clearance and revenue integrity.

Throughout her career, Elaina has:

  • Served as an interim leader over regional billing and follow-up teams at a major hospital, collaborating with regional and centralized billing offices, the denials center, revenue integrity, care coordination, health information management (HIM), managed care and clinical departments.
  • Led the design and implementation of revenue cycle operations to support the rapid increase of infusion center volumes by 500%-600% and transformed access and financial clearance policies, including physician ordering and documentation requirements to minimize denials and improve schedule utilization.
  • Redesigned the financial assistance policy and program procedures to facilitate an aligned and leveraged model with a regional partner, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining compliance with state, 501(r) and Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements.

Prior to joining Huron, Elaina was the director of revenue cycle at UnityPoint Health-Meriter, where she was responsible for multiple departments and teams as well as overall revenue cycle performance for the Madison region.

Elaina is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Elaina holds a Bachelor of Arts in history of art from The Ohio State University and is certified in several Epic applications as well as NextGen.
