Throughout his career, James has:
- Led five- and 10-year enterprisewide strategic planning initiatives for large academic medical centers and health systems, helping executive teams align growth priorities, service line strategy, and capital investment decisions in highly competitive markets.
- Guided healthcare organizations through the full life cycle of strategic partnerships and mergers, from opportunity identification and diligence through integration planning, including payer-provider collaborations, provider unions, and partnerships with research organizations, ancillary providers, and startups.
- Developed buy-side and sell-side strategic diligence perspectives for private equity and financial institutions, supporting investment decisions across healthcare services, provider platforms, and adjacent care models.
- Designed market and competitive assessment frameworks used across multiple multibillion-dollar healthcare strategy engagements, translating policy, demographic, demand, and competitive trends into actionable growth strategies for executive teams.
- Created enterprise-level financial and strategic modeling tools, including service line optimization models and dynamic pro forma forecasts, enabling health systems to evaluate growth scenarios, partnership options, and long-term performance implications.
Before joining Innosight, James held roles in hospital administration, medical research, and healthcare strategy and operations consulting.
James earned a master’s degree in public health from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.
