James is a managing director who leads the U.S. Retail and Consumer Goods industry sector for Huron’s business advisory practice. He manages a team responsible for developing growth strategies for brick-and-mortar and non-store retailers.
Prior to joining Huron, James served as an advisor to CEOs for several national retailers and also assisted private-equity companies in helping them better understand retail categories in their due diligence process. He also recently served as Business President for Sears Holdings, where he oversaw a multi-billion dollar portfolio of businesses for over 2,000 stores at both Sears and Kmart, and has also worked for other retailers including Target Stores, and Kozmo.com. Mr. Alt has served as a restructuring and turnaround director for Glass & Associates, as well as a management consultant for Ernst & Young. He thrives on solving complex organizational issues including, space productivity, technology, capital investment and marketing challenges.
