Dr. John Young advises healthcare clients on change management and organizational culture to sustain high-performing healthcare systems. He brings experience as a clinical and physician leader for multiple inpatient service lines, critical care, ambulatory care, and health system operational areas. Clients benefit from his pharmaceutical and medical device industry experience and deep understanding of vendor relationships. John has a strong background in clinical research, having participated in over 100 clinical trials and written over 100 articles.

Across his career, John has:

  • Led a network of over 100 physician advisers, providing expertise and input into sourcing strategy and effective supply chain operations.
  • Established physician guidance councils at a healthcare organization with dozens of hospital campuses in 30 states, delivering $6 million in cardiovascular and orthopedic cost savings across service lines.
  • Standardized clinical operations of cardiovascular services within a network of 30 hospitals across 15 states, implementing unified patient care guidelines.

Prior to joining Huron, John served as chief medical officer and senior vice president of clinical and advisory solutions for HealthTrust Performance Group in Nashville, Tennessee, overseeing clinical and consulting operations and a 125-physician advisory network. He served as vice president and national medical director at LifePoint Health, where he was responsible for service line performance and provided leadership across regulatory, credentialing, and patient safety operations.

John is board certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine, cardiovascular medicine, and interventional cardiology. He practiced clinical medicine for 15 years, including as chair of a cardiovascular medicine department, and has focused on clinical, operational, and financial resiliency efforts across large health systems for the past 10 years.

John earned his medical doctorate and Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and his Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biochemistry from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He is a certified physician executive (CPE) from the American Association for Physician Leadership. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and the American Heart Association (FAHA).
