Mike Worner

Mike has more than 36 years of consulting and project management experience, and 20 years in healthcare planning and managing enterprisewide electronic medical record and revenue cycle system implementations as well as post-live optimization work.

About Mike

Over the last two decades, Mike has led complex, multisite electronic health record (EHR) system implementation projects in collaboration with chief information officers and other executive leaders. He has managed EHR initiatives for numerous stand-alone and multihospital healthcare systems across revenue cycle, ambulatory, acute and post-acute areas. Mike has specific expertise in governance, strategic planning and process transformation. He also specializes in the selection, implementation and customization of software for his clients.

Throughout his career, Mike has:

• Assessed the current-state optimization model, governance structure and staffing levels for a 10-hospital healthcare system following its Epic implementation to address support team performance and provider/caregiver satisfaction.
• Led the validation of a $90 million budget and developed the program governance, communication structure and timeline for an Epic enterprise implementation at a stand-alone children’s hospital.
• Managed the implementation of a revenue cycle and EHR system for a hospice care organization composed of 50 agencies across 16 states to consolidate the billing and agency operations from three software systems to a single application.
• Led a fatal flaw analysis of a patient accounting system to determine the degree to which it met a health system’s business requirements and would be capable of supporting its future strategic direction.

Prior to joining Huron, Mike was a partner with Cumberland Consulting Group (CCG), where he managed client relationships, monitored delivery quality and mentored junior consultants. He began his career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and continued with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) before joining CCG.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in computer science from Southern Illinois University and is a certified project management professional (PMP).
