Shonna Marshall

Shonna has more than 20 years of experience helping healthcare organizations design and implement hospitalwide charge capture improvement solutions as well as provider coding and charge audits and education. She helps improve net revenue across a wide range of hospital sizes and settings as well as practice management groups.

I am dedicated to optimizing charge capture within the middle revenue cycle by refining processes, workflows, and technology to deliver consistent, sustainable net revenue improvements for healthcare organizations.

Shonna provides middle revenue cycle expertise to healthcare clients looking to improve charge capture, enabling them to increase net revenue.

Throughout her career, Shonna has:

  • Directed a perioperative charge methodology transformation for a large academic medical center, aligning resource consumption by procedure to time-based level charges. This initiative resulted in charge automation and $15 million in recurring net revenue improvement.
  • Transformed the documentation and charge capture process for trauma services at a large multihospital health system, among a variety of additional charge capture opportunities contributing to an overall $30 million recurring net revenue improvement.
  • Directed a charge capture initiative for a pediatric hospital, resulting in $13 million in recurring net revenue improvement.

Prior to joining Huron, Shonna served as a managing director at Eclipse Insights, which was acquired by Huron in 2025. She has held leadership roles at other consulting firms, healthcare systems, and hospitals, including the University of California San Diego, Nordic Consulting Group, Claro, MultiCare Health System, and Rady Children’s Hospital.

Shonna earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Redlands.

Shonna is a member of the American Association of Healthcare Administration Management (AAHAM), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and the National Association of Healthcare Revenue Integrity (NAHRI).
