About Adwoa
Adwoa has been advising clients on healthcare strategy, operations and administration for over two decades. She leads and manages strategy and performance improvement opportunity assessments and implementations for health systems nationwide, with a focus on ambulatory operations and provider performance.
Adwoa has expertise in medical group governance and leadership accountability models, workflow standardization, physician compensation and professional service agreement evaluations, clinical service offering evaluation, medical group acquisition due diligence and synergy assessments, system goals and initiative prioritization alignments, and performance improvement execution.
During her time at Huron, Adwoa has:
- Led successful engagements for academic medical centers and health systems focusing on ambulatory operational redesign and clinical efficiency, including assessing patient throughput, care team models and care coordination, productivity efforts and revenue metrics; training and coaching practice directors; and collaborating with physician executives on the implementation of systemwide initiatives impacting front-line providers.
- Spearheaded a patient access opportunity assessment at a large healthcare institution, collaborating on the design of a future-state road map for implementation. This led to a multiphase engagement for improving patient access, redesigning scheduling workflow, standardizing practice templates, and establishing an operating dashboard with a realigned accountability structure, with an estimated system benefit of $10 million, including downstream revenue.
- Advised a large academic medical center on an engagement to increase patient retention and provider productivity, implement system standards and expectations for clinical effort and alignment, and alleviate physician burnout by resetting expectations for advanced practice providers and clinic support staff roles, resulting in $13 million of identified opportunity.
- Advised health system executives in the review of organizational effectiveness and structure, span of control, and core standard work, resulting in increased operational efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.
Prior to joining Huron, Adwoa served as a vice president in the strategy group at Kaufman Hall & Associates. She also served as systemwide project manager, clinical department administrator, practice administrator, and business and operations manager in various health systems and private healthcare organizations.
Adwoa holds a master’s degree in health administration from University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University.
