Ashley has more than 14 years of consulting experience within the healthcare industry. She has worked in multiple provider settings, including multifacility health systems, academic health centers and pediatric hospitals, where she specializes in leading revenue cycle optimization engagements.

About Ashley

Ashley specializes in designing and implementing new processes across the revenue cycle, including patient access, case management, health information management, billing, collections, self-pay collections, denials management and vendor management. Her clients include pediatric centers, large multifacility health systems and academic health centers.

Throughout her career, Ashley has:

  • Overseen a revenue cycle performance improvement for a $4 billion net patient revenue (NPR) safety net academic medical center in the Northeast. Project activities included leadership development, Epic workflow and reporting optimization, standing up core key performance meeting structures, and supporting strategic advisory for organizational structure realignment.
  • Led a revenue cycle performance improvement project for a $3 billion NPR academic medical center in the Southeast. Project activities included cash acceleration and aging reduction quick hit focus, Epic workflow and workqueue optimization, reporting optimization, and creating foundational operational and training documentation to support moving the organization into a more transformational space.
  • Served as the interim leader of revenue cycle for a top-performing, highly complex, $2.8 billion NPR academic medical center for nearly two years. Highlights included overseeing a staff of 200-plus people, navigating environmental changes during a pandemic, and setting new record-high cash collections for the organization.
  • Served as a strategic adviser to a senior executive of a national health system with operating revenues exceeding $70 billion, providing industry best-practice guidance and strategic support for enterprisewide revenue cycle transformation initiatives.
  • Overseen an integrated engagement focused on revenue cycle performance improvement, clinical documentation improvement, and Epic optimization resulting in over $73 million in total cash improvement and over $54 million in annually recurring income statement benefit, exceeding the high end of the benefit target by more than $10 million.
  • Directed a revenue cycle performance improvement project to improve process and cash flow, standardize revenue cycle design across departments, and optimize Epic workflow and reporting for a $600 million NPR pediatric facility.
  • Developed a long-term patient responsibility and financial clearance strategy resulting in over $13 million in cash improvements and over $7 million in annually recurring income statement benefit for an academic health center in the Midwest.
  • Led a multiyear, multiphase Epic workflow and reporting standardization and optimization engagement across several academic health centers for a large health system in California with net patient revenue exceeding $8 billion.
  • Managed a health information system (HIS) conversion for Huron’s proprietary revenue cycle software for a large, faith-based, multistate health system, where she managed the legacy accounts receivable wind-down strategy for each facility, recreated the work driver specifications for the new system, and oversaw the successful transition of the new HIS work driver and reporting tool, resulting in net revenue improvement projections of more than $20 million.

Ashley played an integral role in developing Huron’s patient responsibility solution and is a co-sponsor of its women’s diversity and inclusion team. She is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts in healthcare management from Concordia College.
