At Huron, Kevin Weiberg draws on his full arc of experience to help colleges and universities think clearly about the structural, financial, and strategic questions now reshaping intercollegiate athletics.
About Kevin
Kevin Weiberg's career has taken him from athletic department offices to conference headquarters to the pioneering days of collegiate cable television, a trajectory that gives him one of the most cross-functional backgrounds in college athletics.
He arrived at the Big Ten Conference in 1989 after a decade in athletic departments at Wichita State and the University of Maryland. Over 10 years, he rose to Deputy Commissioner while helping shape Penn State's integration into the conference and contributing to major media negotiations and NCAA reform efforts. When the Big 12 came looking for its second commissioner in 1998, Weiberg was the choice. His nine-year tenure there was defined by financial growth and steady operational stewardship through a period of considerable change for the conference. He also served as Coordinator of the Bowl Championship Series in 2004 and 2005.
After leaving the Big 12 in 2007, Weiberg joined the newly launched Big Ten Network as Vice President of University Planning and Development, helping lay the commercial and operational groundwork for what has since become a landmark revenue model in college sports. He then served as Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer of the Pac-10 (later Pac-12) beginning in 2010, where he was part of the leadership team that expanded the conference to 12 members, negotiated what was at the time the largest media rights deal in college sports history with ESPN and Fox, and helped launch Pac-12 Networks.
