About Maria
Maria has more than 25 years of experience in hospital accounting, finance, and revenue cycle and in developing and implementing cost-saving strategies for hospitals, physician practices, integrated health networks and pharmacies. She has specific expertise in turnaround environments with complex information technology structures requiring change management and team building for sustained success.
Prior to Huron, Maria served as vice president of revenue cycle management at DaVita Rx, where she led revenue cycle operations and strategy, successfully delivered a $21 million reduction in bad debt expense, and designed an efficient revenue integrity program to monitor and prevent errors and revenue leakage. Previously, she served as the chief financial officer and facility compliance officer at Banner-University Medical Center in Tucson, where she worked closely with the facility chief executive officer, providing strategic financial road maps to finance directors for operating and capital budgets, overseeing workforce management and productivity benchmarks, and integrating management reporting into the new corporate structure. She has also served as the associate vice president for network revenue cycle at the University of Arizona Health Network as well as in the roles of controller and senior internal consultant at the University Medical Center in Tucson.
Maria holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Arizona and is a certified public accountant in Arizona.
