Huron Research Suite 9.2 Release

Huron continues to invest in capabilities to automate processes throughout the research life cycle by releasing Research Suite enhancements that engage and empower administrators and support staff. These enhancements provide users with all the tools they need to seamlessly complete their work regardless of location, allowing principal investigators (PIs) to focus on what they do best — research. The Huron Research Suite 9.2 release incorporates over 570 enhancements across nine solutions designed to improve productivity, including:

• Allows clients to personalize SmartForm views by hiding optional fields, maintaining focus on required institutional data entry while maintaining full upgrade support

• Enables integration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and cloud grants management financial systems by enhancing grants functionality to support flexible and varied multilevel hierarchy structures

• Provides increased flexibility in institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) and animal operations solutions, allowing users to optionally track species by pain category

• Incorporates SmartForm branching flexibility to align to unique institutional needs, making Huron Agreements the most comprehensive solution for tracking funded and unfunded agreements in the marketplace

• Includes an application program interface (API) for animal operations, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive animal operations mobile application

• Delivers improved dashboards with clear, actionable information about “jobs to be done” so users can improve their efficiency within the application

• Maintains over 98% 424 forms coverage with the release of state and country code updates to align with grants.gov changes

• Integrates 130 unique customer requests across the suite, representing a total of 524 votes across the Huron solutions communities

Huron Research Suite integrates the entire research submission and administrative review process for:

• Project budgets
• Federal grant e-submissions
• Research-related agreements and contracts
• Study team financial conflicts of interest
• Employee compensation on federally funded projects
• Human and animal subjects' protection
• Radiation, biohazards and other safety processes
• Animal ordering, census and vivarium cost, and billback management

Huron continues to invest in evaluating and adding new solutions to support the ever-growing research administration ecosystem needs, including the development of a solution to support export control compliance.

To rapidly increase client familiarity with the use of new functions, Huron’s showcase site provides clients with a comprehensive, fully integrated sandbox to experience new functionality in release 9.2 and prepare users to incorporate new capabilities into local processes. To assist in understanding and adoption, Huron now provides expert-facilitated demo-day sessions to allow clients to view real-world business scenarios that incorporate the new capabilities provided by the Huron applications and product management team. To further progress client team preparedness, each release is backed by fully interactive online training through the Huron Learning Lab. The Huron Learning Lab transition courses provide clients with everything needed to understand and implement release 9.2 changes.

Incorporating a breadth of administrative processes and an interconnected ecosystem, the spring 2020 9.2 release is Huron’s latest commitment to simplifying complex submission and review processes for researchers and administrators.
