Peter Stokes

Peter is a higher education expert with more than 20 years of industry experience as a consultant, researcher, university administrator and teacher. He works with higher education leaders to transform their strategic planning and increase student success.

About Peter

Transformation is about adapting two variables: the business model and the audiences served.

Peter is a managing director in the strategy and operations group of Huron’s education business. For more than two decades he has advised presidents, provosts, deans and other senior education leaders at public and private institutions on long-term planning and student success strategies.

Peter specializes in working with institutions to reach new audiences, develop innovative curricular models, support graduates’ work readiness and more meaningfully engage alumni and employer partners. Throughout his career, he has helped colleges and universities take the necessary steps to thrive in a changing environment, from defining their institutional strategy and improving their competitive positioning, to launching new programs and designing innovative education delivery models.

Prior to joining Huron, Peter was the vice president for global strategy and business development in the president’s office at Northeastern University. He previously served as Northeastern University’s executive director for postsecondary innovation within the College of Professional Studies. Peter has also held leadership roles at Russell Reynold Associates and Eduventures.

He has had the opportunity to participate in multiple education-focused public sector initiatives including the U.S. Department of Education’s Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance, the Massachusetts Commonwealth Readiness Commission and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation Tenth Anniversary Commission.

Peter is a frequent speaker at industry events hosted by organizations including the American Council on Education (ACE), the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). He has been a lecturer at a number of institutions including Tufts University, the Massachusetts College of Art and Northeastern University.
