About RJ
RJ advises institutional lenders and other stakeholders navigating credit stress and restructuring situations where financial decisions can have significant implications on value preservation and recovery. His experience spans the credit cycle, from early identification of financial stress and liquidity challenges, implementation of cash preservation strategies, intercreditor negotiations, Chapter 11 proceedings, debtor-in-possession financing, § 363 asset sales, and development and implementation of restructuring strategies, including plans of reorganization.
He has served as both an operational and financial advisor, helping clients assess liquidity, debt capacity, business plans, evaluating enterprise value, and assessing strategic alternatives. RJ works with commercial banks, private credit institutions, executives, boards, steering committees, and creditor groups to evaluate complex situations, structure financing solutions, and navigate competing stakeholder interests. His experience includes construction, manufacturing, energy and power, infrastructure, shipping, and technology companies, among other industries.
Throughout RJ’s career, he has:
- Advised bank syndicates and private credit lenders through more than $20 billion in debt restructurings, directing valuations and financial modeling, evaluating business plans supporting reorganization, and helping structure and negotiate amendments, waivers, and new-money facilities.
- Guided lenders, steering committees, and syndicates through in- and out-of-court restructurings, including debtor-in-possession and exit financings, with a focus on protecting recovery value and navigating competing stakeholder interests.
- Advised companies, executive committees, and boards facing significant financial and operational challenges, helping management address liquidity constraints, improve profitability, execute reorganizations, and preserve enterprise and estate value.
- Advised stakeholders during in- and out-of-court M&A processes, including evaluation of credit bid strategies.
- Directed litigation-related analyses involving solvency, fraudulent transfers, valuation, and forensic issues and served as an expert witness in complex financial matters.
Before joining Huron, RJ was a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, where he advised institutional lenders and other stakeholders on restructuring and financial matters. Prior to FTI, he held senior roles at TC Energy, evaluating traditional and distressed energy investments across North America. His earlier experience also includes financial and investment roles at Merrill Lynch and Fidelity Investments.
RJ earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and a Master of Science in information systems from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science from Fairfield University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
